Rishi Rajendran, a second grade student from Town Center Elementary School, won the Elite section of the Princeton Charter School in January 2009 chess tournament. Thirty –one chess players from a variety of regional schools took part in the competition.
Rishi obtained 3 points in the round robin system used in the top section, followed in order by Alex Roth, Marko Van Selous, Matthew Danielson, and Spencer Stengle.
In the Above 500 section, Hermanus Kreike- Martin and Ryan M. Lau, both from PCS, ended with perfect score followed by Lincoln Roth in third place, on tie-breaks over Jai Narayanan and Sri Narayanan.
At the Under 500 section, Maanav Ganthapodi from Lawrence Elementary School and Nathalie Graham from PCS tied in the first place, and Wyatt Zetterberg (PCS) got third.
We had 9 first-time competitors in the unrated section, with Patrick Ramirez from Franklin Park School, obtaining first place, second was his school mate Michael Campbell and in third Place Idir Aitsahalia from PCS.
The inclusion of a Dad’s section that was won by Charlie Roth, with perfect score, was well accepted for the concurrence.
The next tournament will be held February 21, 2009.
